Fertility Preservation Network Adds Pennsylvania Facility

RMAPA, located in Allentown, joins the growing network of fertility centers providing much needed Fertility Preservation services to cancer patients prior to the initiation of oncology treatments. "Reproductive Medicine Associates of Pennsylvania at Lehigh Valley is pleased to be a part of Reprotech's Fertility Preservation Network and looks forward to helping cancer patients preserve their fertility. The importance of a reliable long-term storage facility to store sperm, oocytes, ovarian tissue and embryos cannot be overstated. We look forward to working with Reprotech's Fertility Preservation Network to improve the awareness of fertility preservation services and to help more cancer survivors have children in the future." says Wendy Schillings, M.D., Infertility Specialist at RMAPA.

According to the American Cancer Society, 140,000 men and women of childbearing age are newly diagnosed with cancer each year. There often is a small window of time for them to preserve their fertility; therefore, access to cryopreservation services is extremely important. Both the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) and American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) recommend the education of oncology patients about the options available to preserve their fertility.

ReproTech, Ltd was founded in 1990 for the purpose of providing long-term cryostorage services and now operates cryostorage facilities in Florida, Minnesota and Nevada. ReproTech's Fertility Preservation Network was organized to educate oncology professionals and caretakers, as well as provide the much needed cryopreservation services. The Network now includes members in 34 states and the Caribbean that provide cryopreservation services for cancer patients. Additionally, the work of fertileHOPE and LiveSTRONG has advanced the awareness of the need for Fertility Preservation within the oncology community.

The Reproductive Medicine Associates of Pennsylvania at Lehigh Valley is among the leading specialists in fertility treatments for men and women.
