Fertility Preservation Network Launches Educational Booklet

May 17, 2011 - ReproTech, Ltd., a cryobank specializing in long-term storage of human reproductive tissues (sperm, eggs, ovarian/testicular tissue and embryos), recently launched a campaign to promote Fertility Preservation Awareness and Education.

ReproTech, Ltd. has created and is distributing its Fertility Preservation 101 booklet, a guide to fertility preservation in patients whose fertility is compromised due to cancer or other fertility threatening treatments. The booklet is a comprehensive guide designed to assist oncology professionals in educating their patients on the importance of fertility preservation discussions, cancer treatment and risks, and fertility preservation options for men, women and children.

According to the American Cancer Society, 140,000 men and women of childbearing age are newly diagnosed with cancer each year. There often is a small window of time for them to preserve their fertility; therefore, access to cryopreservation services is extremely important. Both the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) and American Society of Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) recommend the education of oncology patients about the options available to preserve their fertility.

ReproTech, Ltd.'s Fertility Preservation Network, is comprised of top fertility centers around the U.S. and Caribbean. This growing network of centers provides much needed fertility preservation services to cancer patients prior to the initiation of oncology treatments. The Network now includes members in 33 states and the Caribbean. ReproTech, Ltd. also offers a sperm banking by air kit, the OverNite Male™ Kit, for males who may be unable to visit a clinic due to illness or location. Financial Assistance programs are available though ReproTech, Ltd.'s Verna's Purse program or LIVESTRONG's Sharing Hope programs.
